Terms of use

These terms govern use of the e-split beta. By using e-split, you agree to them. Questions can be sent to privacy@e-split.com.
A shared record, not a payment service
e-split helps groups record shared bills, expenses, plans, repayment reports, returns, and decisions. My expenses also helps one account owner organize Personal and Business spending for their own records. e-split does not hold or transfer funds, connect to bank accounts, reconcile bank statements, maintain double-entry books, verify a payment, provide credit reporting, collect debt, prepare or file taxes, guarantee proof of payment, or give legal, tax, accounting, or financial advice. Balances and summaries depend on information people enter and confirm.
Your responsibilities
You must be at least 18 and legally able to agree to these terms. Use accurate information, invite only people you are authorized to contact, protect private links, and respect the privacy and rights of group members. Do not use e-split for fraud, harassment, unlawful collection, harmful content, unauthorized access, or transactions prohibited by law. Group members should resolve disagreements with one another; e-split records the states they select.
External payment handoffs
Venmo and Cash App links are optional conveniences. Confirm the recipient, username, amount, and provider screen before sending. Opening a link does not change an e-split balance. A repayment changes the record only through e-split’s explicit report and recipient-confirmation steps. External services have their own terms, privacy practices, availability, limits, and dispute processes.
AI-assisted suggestions and scan credits
Receipt and bill-PDF reading may be incomplete or wrong. It produces an editable draft only and never a tax conclusion. You must review merchant or provider, amount, date, currency, category, payer, shares, business purpose, and review status as applicable before saving. Do not upload a document you lack permission to process. Saving a receipt does not scan it. Before an optional scan, e-split shows whether it uses an included or paid credit; beta pricing and allowances may change prospectively.
Private tracker records and exports
Personal and Business labels, categories, tax-review states, reimbursement states, and forecasts are organizational aids. They do not establish deductibility, substantiation, tax treatment, or accounting accuracy. Keep independent source records where law or your adviser requires them. A CSV or later third-party export is a separate copy outside e-split; you are responsible for its access settings, sharing, retention, and deletion.
Splits, records, and closure
Members share responsibility for their split. Owners manage invitations and administration, but do not gain authority to alter another joined member’s payment username or private confirmation. A used split can become a read-only archive only through the displayed closure process. Shared history may remain pseudonymized after someone leaves or deletes an account because other members rely on the same record.
Beta availability
The service is provided for evaluation and may change, be interrupted, or contain errors. Keep independent records for important obligations and never rely on a reminder as the only notice of a due date. To the extent permitted by applicable law, e-split is provided “as is” without warranties of uninterrupted availability, accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Responsibility for losses
To the extent permitted by applicable law, e-split and its operator are not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive losses; missed deadlines; incorrect member entries; disputes among members; or actions taken in an external payment app. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that law does not allow us to exclude.
Suspension and ending use
We may restrict access needed to protect people, the service, or legal compliance. You may stop using e-split, leave eligible splits, delete unused splits, close settled splits through the member process, and delete your account. Terms that by their nature concern retained shared records, responsibility, or legal limits continue after use ends.
Changes and applicable law
Material changes will be posted with a new effective date. These terms are governed by applicable law where the service operator is established, while preserving consumer rights that cannot be waived. If a provision cannot be enforced, the remaining terms continue.
